Chitosan Water Treatment Grade is a high-quality, natural cationic polymer derived from chitin. It is conventional chitosan that has not been modified or degraded, so it is insoluble in water and needs to work in an acidic water system or be further processed. It is widely used in drinking water, industrial wastewater, and municipal sewage treatment due to its excellent coagulation, flocculation, and heavy metal removal capabilities. Available in coarse flakes and powder, it ensures efficient purification, reduces organic load, and improves water clarity while being safe and environmentally friendly.

Chitosan Water treatment Grade Applications

  • Coagulation and Flocculation: Chitosan is a natural cationic polymer that neutralizes negatively charged suspended particles in water. Promotes the formation of flocs, which settle or can be filtered out. Applied in drinking water treatment, industrial wastewater, and municipal sewage.
  • Heavy Metal Ion Removal: The amino and hydroxyl groups in chitosan chelate with heavy metals such as Cu²⁺, Pb²⁺, Cd²⁺, Cr⁶⁺. Widely used in mining, electroplating, metallurgical, and chemical wastewater treatment.
  • Dye and Color Removal: Chitosan has excellent adsorption properties for various dyes, including acidic dyes, reactive dyes, and azo dyes. Common in textile and printing & dyeing wastewater treatment.
  • Oil and Grease Removal: Efficiently adsorbs emulsified oils and petroleum hydrocarbons. Used in petrochemical, food processing, and refinery wastewater.
  • Reduction of Organic Load (BOD & COD): By removing suspended solids and dissolved organic matter, chitosan helps reduce Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD).
